The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a truly magnificent venue with breathtaking views and splendid gardens. I arrived early for Aisling and Jason's wedding and was thrilled to see glorious blue skies over Lough Corrib in Cong, Mayo framing the hills of Connemara. What every bride wishes for on her wedding day. Well, we got that and more! The sun was out and set to shine! The Lodge with its creative and elegant decor was a real treat to capture. There's a wide variety of art throughout the venue, a feast for the eyes or in my case, my camera! :)
Aisling & Jason
Aisling and Jason chose a spectacular location to celebrate their special day. After meeting on a blind date 4 years ago it was destined to be. They are a really easy going couple who just wanted to celebrate their love with family and friends after such a long time apart (Covid). I had the pleasure of capturing their engagement shoot in Cleggan the Easter prior to the wedding. Getting to know them a little before the wedding was lovely and made for a much more relaxed shoot on the wedding day. They also were able to use a shot from their shoot on the day. See if you can spot it.
The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a country house with plenty of chic, just look at this bridal suite. I fell in love with the tub and tones of the room. It also has a balcony that overlooks Lough Corrib. A little bit of groom spotting went on here as the girls were getting ready. The ladies had a lovely relaxed morning and had everything they needed thanks to the Wedding Co-Ordinator Cora, from The Lodge at Ashford. Hair and makeup were done in the room by `Joanne Galloway, The Hair Gallery and makeup by Isobel Hardiman from Clifden.
Aisling's niece and nephew Saoirse and Michéal were Flower girl and Paige boy. I just love the shot of the page boy on her dress above. Classic little boy form. I wanted to capture a few shots of Aisling around the tub before heading to the ceremony. The little Paige boy and Flower girl had other ideas and absolutely made the shot. Aren't they two cuties!
Jason and the lads weren't far away. They were dressing in another suite just across the courtyard from the ladies, so I didn't have far to travel and could go between each suite as the morning unfolded. The courtyard of The Lodge suites was the perfect spot to take some relaxed shots of the Groom and his Groomsmen before heading to the ceremony.
The ceremony also took place in The Lodge with beautiful decor by the talented Geraldine O'Haire who is the resident Florist for The Lodge at Ashford Castle. Two beautiful white blossom trees overhung the open door with guests facing out towards the beautiful view of the Lough. A beautiful ceremony was given by celebrant Enda Harte. The couple and guests then walked out and had a drinks reception and some group shots on the lawn.
Bridal Party Shoot
We headed over to Ashford Castle and the gardens for some Bridal Party photos. The grounds are truly splendid. I could have shot there all day. There was just so much in bloom, it was magical and made for some fab shots. We started at the gates and captured some group shots on the bridge. We then made our way through the grounds with the lake as our backdrop for some then onto the different gardens. There are so many gardens, it was hard to choose. I was glad I came to scout out some ideas the week beforehand.
The Reception was full of laughter and giggles, with beautifil speeches and hilarious stories about the couple. Everyone was in tears of joy. The tables were dressed so elegantly and the cake by Devour Bakery in Ballinrobe stood proudly waiting to be sliced. After the meal everyone headed back out onto the lawn for the first dance, illuminated by the moon. A truly magical wedding day at The Lodge Ashford Castle.See more Real weddings here.
