The Abbeyglen Castle is such a great location! Surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and breathtaking views up through the town of Clifden. What more could you ask for? Dating back to 1832, the castle offers both comfort and splendour. Jenny & Reggie chose a fantastic location for their Vow Renewal. The Abbeyglen Castle Hotel, in Clifden definitely delivered.
The Ceremony - Handfasting
The ceremony was led by interfaith minister Geraldine Browne. It was very sentimental. Especially so, because of all the special touches by family members. Firstly it was a handfasting ceremony. I love handfasting ceremonies and they are becoming so much more popular now. It's a very old Celtic tradition where the couple faces each other and their hands are bound. A knot is tied, hence 'tying the knot'! Clever eh?! The binding symbolises the joining of two lives and the commitment. Celtic knots in artwork symbolize unity and everlasting. Secondly, there was the music. Both played and sung by their daughter and granddaughter. Special verses were also read leaving not a dry eye in the house! A truly beautiful family affair. I love these bits. I am so lucky to be asked to capture these moments for families. I'm so grateful. I get to experience such important and emotional moments in other peoples lives. Therefore, it's up to me to capture them as best I can.
After the ceremony, I love to get a few shots of my couples. So we used the lovely backdrop at the Abbeyglen and got a few chilled shots around the castle, then sitting looking out over Clifden town. Jenny & Reggie's family jumped in for a few fun family shots. Grandaughters Sarah and Rachel also had a little photo shoot, which I'll share in another post. Really excited about these ones, so keep posted! :)
